Secluded among the coastal redwoods just inland from the shores of Monterey Bay south of Santa Cruz, Monte Toyon is an inviting and versatile gathering place for groups of 30-146. Helgesson Hall, a light and spacious building with open-beamed ceiling and wood floors, lends itself to large group activities. It consists of a central assembly area with a stage and fireplace. Additional meeting space is available in Hollidge Hall, or in the quiet hillside setting of Silverthorn Chapel, with indoor/outdoor meeting and worship space for 50 persons. The main dining hall, which offers buffet meal service, also converts to a large meeting area. Cary Lodge, a beautiful two-story building, offers overnight accommodations in 16 four-person rooms and 3 two-person rooms, serving a total of 70 guests. A lounge is located on the first floor and bathroom/shower facilities are located on upper and lower floors. The Miller and Morris dorms house 76 guests in nine rooms. Camp facilities include an outdoor amphitheater, two campfire circles, playfield, volleyball court, half basketball court, the Sumner Rhododendron Garden, and numerous hiking trails.
